Socialable was founded by Esther James.
Social media expert Esther James created her consultancy Socialable in 2015 offering training courses; one to one tuition, full social media management and one-off comprehensive social media packages around a key event or project.
Before starting her own business, Esther had a 20-year career in communications at a corporate level and, more recently, in the SME sector. One of her main roles was within the Environment Agency where she worked in the then chief executive’s office as a project officer. Her role included corporate strategy, event, conference and workshop organisation, management and marketing. She was also integral to supporting scientists with communications around their important work and helped them share their findings in an appropriate and informative manner.
Starting her own business had been a dream for some time and when the opportunity came in 2014 Esther made the leap. Esther found many business owners, directors, charities and sole traders struggled to understand, focus and commit to strategic social media engagement.
Esther and her team of associates help business owners identify and connect with the right type of customer, demonstrate expertise and knowledge as well as raising profile and brand awareness. She believes a lot of marketing is one way, in that you don’t get instant results however social media gives people the chance to start a two-way conversation with a business – and that can be immediate and lead to business in the real world.
To date, Esther and her team have worked with a variety of businesses. Socialable has also, since 2016, been the preferred supplier of social media training to South Gloucestershire Council.
At home in Yate, near Bristol, Esther has been married since 2006 and is a mother to two young sons. She’s vegan by choice and is a keen cook using fresh and home-grown produce where possible.
